The Swiss prison staff training center is a foundation of the Conference of Cantonal Justice and Police Directors.

Located in Fribourg the training centre offers basic vocational training for Swiss prison staff and advanced vocational training for employees of the Swiss criminal justice system.

After been recruited by a penal institution, prison staff usually gets six months of vocational in-house training. Afterwards they must complete a 15 week training course through the Swiss Prison Staff Training Centre. If successfully completed, trainee prison officers will hold a federal certificate, enabling them to use the title "law enforcement officer".
